Farmers Santa Parade

This Saturday I went to the Santa parade down town with Mary and Charlotte. I had been told that the parade was a bit lame but I was happily surprised. They had Olaf, Rudolph, planes and kiwi balloons. There were four marching bag pipe bands. I was a bit schooled that there were four. Who knew Auckland had so many bagpipers. It was a bit odd to see ginger bread houses covered in snow when it was a warm sunny spring day. It just felt odd. My favourite part of the parade was the last float. It had Santa with his reindeer. The back of the float was shooting out snow. I loved it. It definitely made it feel like Christmas.
There were a few odd floats. One dance company had a haunted house float playing Thriller. Everyone was dressed and ghosts, skeletons and vampires. It was very out of place. They also had black fares roller blading between the floats which didn't scream Christmas to me.
I really enjoyed going to the parade. Mary has seen the Macy's thanksgiving parade. Charlotte had never seen a parade (apparently they don't do them in Denmark). It was cool to have both perspectives.
After the parade we wandered around for a while and waited for enough people to leave that we could get on the bus. It was super crowded as most people seemed to take the bus.
